Hand-thrown in Morocco's Draa Valley using traditional techniques, these gorgeous candlesticks are shaped on a traditional wheel using local clay, left mostly unglazed to show the natural cream clay body. The potter then deliberately splashes green copper-oxide glaze in a unique pattern. No two splatter patterns are identical. They are then wood-fired in underground kilns where the glaze melts slightly, creating soft moss-green accents across the pale natural clay. Smoke and ash add depth and vintage patina.
Tamegroute candlesticks are stacked rim-to-base during firing. Where pottery touches, minor glaze chips occur naturally. Where ash lands, it creates soft marks and colour variation. Where glaze flows, it pools unevenly. This proves traditional firing—opposite of smooth, mass-produced ceramic. Chips at edges, glaze depth variation, splatter intensity shifts—these are fingerprints of authentic handmade pottery, not defects.
